The curious case of Salaar’s delay

The release of actor Prabhas’s Salaar has been pushed from September 28 to November, which has left the fans wondering what could have caused it.

Trade expert-producer Girish Johar says, “The movie will not only release in India, but also overseas, which is a huge market. And for that, you have to meet the requirements for the censor boards there. So, if the makers were not happy, it’s good they pushed the release.”

A source close to the production adds that director Prashanth Neel “is sitting on the editing table himself and wants everything to be exactly like it was planned”.

However, trade analyst Atul Mohan feels actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan may have something to do with Salaar’s delay: “Jawan will be the talk of the town for at least a month, so the point of getting overshadowed does arise.”

Another speculation that’s doing the rounds is Prabhas’ involvement in the decision to delay the film. But trade expert Ramesh Bala says it’s not true. “He does his job and moves on to the next film,” shares Bala, adding, “Advance bookings for Salaar were on in the US and the movie had collected more than half a million dollars, which the makers are refunding now due to the postponement. There was a lot of deliberation over it (delaying the film).”
