ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI had a decent first week as it collected around 70 crore nett. Like TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR earlier this year, the collections are not good enough for the budget of the film but they are decent for the genre which is a struggle at the box office as its not able to reach out to the mass circuits. Also here the hero was weaker compared to TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR. So, these numbers become reasonable.

The plus for the film is that it saw good holds over the weekdays and it should cover some ground over the second week. The film has fared very well in some areas like the NCR belt where collections are similar to ADIPURUSH which was a 115 crore nett first week all India as compared to only 70 crore here. The mass circuits have also held up well over the weekdays though at low collections and in these pockets, it will just be better multiplexes which will take it along now.

The crucial area for the film was Gujarat/Saurashtra if the film was to really go somewhere as the circuit is mainly driven by the family crowd. But the film could not really fare well here with collections only around 40 lakhs nett on Thursday when you would want the ratio above 10% by the end of the first week as its a longer sustaining circuit.

The story is about the metros going forward and these should hold well but the ratio of business from here will keep getting higher and higher as the film goes deeper into its run. The second Friday hold is crucial and if the film can hold at a similar level to Thursday it will be on its way to some kind of success. However, the the third Friday will see huge competition and that will actually tell where the film will land.

ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI has done fantastically well overseas in week one as from a strong start, it has held up very well in the first week and in one week has done similar buisness to GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI. It will also beat SOORYAVANSHI, '83 and KGF - CHAPTER 2 (Hindi) by the end of the second weekend leaving it only behind PATHAAN and BRAHMASTRA post pandemic. The week one number is $7.25 million.

The film has a lot of legs in overseas as the holds were very strong over the weekdays and the early numbers on the first Friday are also huge with Australia going at a pretty much similar rate to the first Friday. The United Kingdom hit £80k plus on each weekday and looks certain to hit a huge second weekend.

The real plus is Gulf as that is the market which could have bought the film down but in just one week. It has done as much as BRAHMASTRA which is the second highest grosser in the market post pandemic after PATHAAN. The circuit has been a struggle in 2021 and 2022 but seems to be getting better now.

The film could be flirting with the $10 million mark after the second weekend.
