DREAM GIRL 2 had a good first weekend as it collected almost 40 crore nett over with a good trend over the weekend. The Sunday growth was limited at less than 15% as certain areas which show big growth on Sunday are not doing as well as they should be.

The film has yielded very good results in Delhi/UP, Rajasthan and CI despite GADAR 2 being strong in these markets and actually first choice over the weekend. The Delhi/UP circuit comfortably went above the 10 crore nett mark as it collected around 12 crore nett and this was more than what Mumbai circuit collected. Gujarat/Saurashtra was a letdown as this is a circuit that comedies do very well as its the only circuit where comedies are among top grossers. Its a conservative audience here and the male lead has image of picking subjects which do not go down with these families which leads to these results in a circuit which leads for the genre.

The plus for the film is the Raksha Bandhan period which looks to be split over two days on Wednesday and Thursday with some places having holiday on Wednesday and others having on Thursday. But the film needs to have a hold on Monday to really benefit from the holiday period. If the film can hold under 50% on Monday and with the Raksha Bandhan period to come, it could emerge the fourth HIT in a month for the Hindi film industry.
