There are small films like THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA STORY that have also put up insane numbers but they are not really breakthrough for the film industry as business has come due to external factors rather than the cinema that was created.

Some of the big films have done mega business post the pandemic and as the industry shifts into making bigger and bigger action films, there are going to be more huge numbers as 3.5 crore footfalls today are 600 crore and 4 crore will be around 700 crore; the values will only get higher each year. Five crore footfalls days are probably over but you never know.

The industry needs the small/medium films to do numbers of 75 crore nett plus which was a regular occurrence before the pandemic. ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE has shown the way though the circuit numbers show a different story as to how a similar films before the pandemic would get to 80 crore nett.

The old multiplex formula of catering to the metros with a film with a Delhi feel is now over and now a smaller film has to cater to more centres to get numbers. In a way this is good for long term sustainability as numbers are not coming from a handful places but from a wider number of centres. Basically even smaller films now need more reach The music of ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE has turned out to be a blockbuster with 'Tere Vaaste' going out of the roof post release and that may be the reason for the reach of this film.

The numbers have also come with an underperformance of Mumbai circuit as Delhi/UP collects more for the film with excellent collections from the big centres of UP. When a film this can cross 80 crore nett with a moderate performance in the biggest circuit, it shows that even smaller film still have potential theatrically.
