Actor Geeta Basra was rethinking her holiday plans to Paris (France) after seeing the visuals of the riots as people protested the killing of a teen by a cop. But, she is happy she didn’t cancel her vacation since it wasn’t “as terrifying” as it was portrayed in the news.
Accompanied by her husband, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, and their kids, daughter Hinaya Heer Plaha and son Jovan Veer Singh Plaha, Paris was the last stop of her vacation in Europe. “We stayed in Paris for five days and didn’t witness any riots. It was very peaceful. There were police across the city, but there was nothing to worry about,” says Basra, who is back home in London.
The 39-year-old was in Monte Carlo (Monaco) when she heard the news about the riots from her family. “I called my friends in Paris, who assured me that things were fine. I’m thankful that we had five fabulous days there. We walked the city’s streets and saw the Eiffel Tower,” she says.
For those planning a trip to the French capital, the actor suggests “do your own research”. She adds, “Make sure you ask those living in Paris about the situation. Don’t go by just what you’re hearing or seeing.”
