No composer or lyricist names on film poster; Sameer angry

Lyricist Sameer Anjaan is miffed with the makers of Animal. The reason? None of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer’s posters released so far carry the name of either the music composer or the lyricist.

The Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Dhoom 3 (2013) lyricist, who tweeted about it recently, says, “I don’t know why the [makers] don’t think it’s important to mention the composer and lyricist’s names. Even the sound recordist’s name is there on the poster! How can you do this?” says Anjaan, adding that he feels “there is a huge nexus” behind the practice.

Recently, the film’s pre-teaser, featuring a fight scene set to a Punjabi song (Dang Khadke), was launched — without a mention of the composer (Manan Bhardwaj) or writer (Bhupinder Babbal).

Anjaan, who first expressed his disappointment on Twitter, shares: “I don’t know why the lyricist and composer of the film are not fighting. I remember Nadeem-Shravan (music composers) and me putting it in our agreements that no poster will be released without our name on it.”

The 65-year-old attributes a fall in the quality of music to this practice. He now plans to call for a meeting of musicians to take this up in a bigger way. “I am going to tell all leading composers and writers to raise their voice otherwise they will not get their due credit,” he wraps up.
