1920: HORRORS OF THE HEART, which had taken a respectable opening day as compared to many other releases of the last 6-9 months, could not really show much of upward trend on Saturday. The film went up around 20% but had to do more. The genre does not really push on Saturday so that 50-60-70% growth was never on the cards but 30-40% would have been a fair result.
The plus is that first day which again shows that films that cater more towards mass circuits have potential of getting more numbers. A film like AN ACTION HERO, which aims at the metros, gets around 1.20 crore nett and this 1920 film, with no promotion, gets 1.40 crore nett.
As far as the industry is concerned, it does not need telling from us the difference of awareness and size of these two films. Simply put there is NO WAY that 1920 should be opening better than AN ACTION HERO and it would have not happened pre pandemic. But with the change in box office demographics, today the numbers are there for all to see.
The first two day numbers of 1920: HORRORS OF THE HEART are as follows.
Friday - 1,40,00,000
Saturday - 1,65,00,000
TOTAL -3,05,00,000
