The Tamil film PONNIYIN SELVAN - PART 2 has done very good business over its first weekend with of collections of 72 crore nett apprx. The first part of the film had done around 90 crore nett. So, it does not compare well but standalone, these are very good collections.

The Tamil Nadu market has done 41 crore nett plus which are the best weekend numbers for the year in the home circuit but Monday is crucial if the film is to go on and do a good number. There are not many films that go to 100 crore in Tamil Nadu and that is the first first target.

Friday - 12,75,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 13,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 15,50,00,000 apprx

The all India collections of the PONNIYIN SELVAN - PART 2 are at 72 crore nett. The Tamil industry has seen three films comfortably cross the 200 crore nett mark (2.0, PONNIYIN SELVAN - PART 1 and VIKRAM) while ENTHIRAN (ROBOT) also did 200 crore nett apprx way back in 2010. PONNIYIN SELVAN - PART 1 went to collect around 260 crore nett. But here, 200 crore nett looks a huge target though if it sustains like the first part it should get there.

The film has seen huge overseas results which should come in at around $10 million in 3 days and this ensures a huge worldwide total. The immigration of Tamilians in recent years not only from India but from Sri Lanka has seen the overseas market really jump for this industry.
