In a career spanning over three decades, Ajay Devgn has done a variety of films across genres and what has helped him stay relevant is the fact that the actor has kept up with the changing times. Ajay, who is tech savvy, also strongly believes that in that department, we need to constantly upgrade ourselves and up the game to connect with the younger generation. Having young children one in his teens (Yug) and the other a young adult (Nysa) – gives him a better understanding of the thought process and views of the young audience.

He says, “Not just them, but all the younger people around who you connect with can give you an understanding of that. You need to understand that with changing times, feelings and emotions are also changing. The way we express ourselves emotionally has also changed,” says Ajay, who cites an example saying, “These days when you have an argument with your child, you say one line and they get your point. You don’t have to give them a lecture like we had to earlier.”

Ajay says, “When doing scenes in films, you have to get practical too. You can’t have 20 dialogues to represent an emotion in a scene when you can convey it with just one line. So, it’s important to grasp that; the problem arises when you become rigid.”

Ajay adds, “This generation is watching films in 2X (double the speed). They are mentally much faster than you. Our cinema has to catch up, otherwise, they will get bored, and we will be left behind. Also, when you give them the logic behind what you are doing, it works for them. I was talking to Yug and his friends one day and asked them, ‘What do you like about The Avengers? That’s all fake, yaar!’ And they gave me a scientific justification for every character. They want everything with logic, even in the films they watch. The masses have also become very smart. If you give them logic with entertainment, it could work.”
