Speculations about actor Sidharth Malhotra replacing actor Akshay Kumar in the second instalment of Rowdy Rathore (2012) have been doing the rounds for a while. It is also being said that director Anees Bazmee has been roped in to direct the film.

However, an industry insider shares that while the director has been finalised, nothing has been decided on who will star in it. “Producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and filmmaker Anees Bazmee are in talks for Rowdy Rathore 2 and the latter will direct the film. But there has been no discussion about Sidharth replacing Akshay in the film. Though some people from the film’s team want Sidharth to be a part of the project, no concrete decision has been taken by the makers yet. In fact, there has been no discussion about the film’s lead cast at all,” shares the source.

Another source says that while the second instalment of the film is confirmed, it won’t go on floors anytime soon. “The date hasn’t been decided yet. Bazmee is busy with the pre-production of his next, starring Shahid Kapoor. He also has the No Entry (2005) sequel to work on,” says the source.
