After last year’s Thar and JugJugg Jeeyo, Anil Kapoor has again struck a chord with the audience in his performance in The Night Manager (TNM). And the actor couldn’t be happier. “People are calling it the Pathaan of OTT!” he beams. With major projects Animal and Fighter in the pipeline, how has he managed to balance the two mediums successfully?

“It’s about making the right choices at the right time. My decisions of choosing from five or six offers have paid off. Also, my co-stars across all the projects, were fantastic,” he says.

Having said that, Kapoor doesn’t believe that a project doing well is only because of the lead actors but that departments such as editing and sound deserve credit, too. “Nobody talks about it! The editor on TNM has done a tremendous job. The sound designer on my latest show Yatrik has done a terrific job. The music of JugJuggJeeyo was fantastic. People who work behind the screen deserve [to be talked about] too,” he wraps up.

The 66-year-old plays the antagonist in TNM. All along, he was conscious about the fact that a considerable chunk of the show’s audience would be families, too. “My character had the F-word and certain other bad words. I said, ‘No, if this character uses them, they will just come towards the end when he is cornered’. I kept it clean,” he shares.
