Farhan Akhtar credits music for enabling him to be more expressive

For Farhan Akhtar, creating music has been an emotional outlet like no other. The actor-musician tells us, “Going on the path of music has truly helped me with sharing my thoughts and feelings.”
This kind of opening up, he admits, is something he has always struggled with. “My personality is such that I rarely share what’s going on in my mind. My first instinct is to bottle up my emotions,” the 49-year-old says, adding that immersing himself in music has “enabled me to be a little more vocal about my thoughts”.
This has helped him become a better actor, too. Akhtar adds, “Sharing what I’m feeling benefits me as an actor. When you are not carrying a load, it’s much easier to perform. [You are able] to be in the moment and leave behind the anxiety or fear of judgement. That’s what you really want to do as an actor.”
As he continues on his journey as a musician, the Toofaan (2021) actor assures us that acting hasn’t taken a back-seat. “I want to be back on screen. I am in the process of doing that and hopefully, I will make an announcement very soon,” he wraps up.
NO SHOW IN AUSTRALIA
Akhtar’s shows in Australia, initially scheduled for the coming weekend, have been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Sharing the news on social media, he wrote, “Please believe me when I say that we share your disappointment. However, I do hope to come to your beautiful country in the near future and perform for you.”
