Actor, director, producer — Arbaaz Khan dons many hats. Now, he’s also a chat show host. On an episode that featured his father, veteran writer Salim Khan, Arbaaz asked his dad if he was bothered that he and actor Sohail Khan are not as successful as their brother, actor Salman Khan. This soon made headlines, with many praising his candidness and realistic approach.

He tells us, “Kya hota hai na, aap bhale hi apne baare mein jo socho, duniya toh kuch na kuch bolti hi hai. Professionally, many people will be more successful than you... Your success in some [other] area may be more than theirs. If someone is ahead of you, there is no shame in acknowledging it.”

The 55-year-old says he is well aware of his standing. “Today, ask anyone who is more successful between Salman and Arbaaz, 100 out of 100 will say Salman. Toh mujhe kya sharam [yeh] bolne mein? Tomorrow, the situation could be different; maybe I’ll be so successful that it supersedes his [success]! You have to be honest where you stand and not be deluded. People respect if you confront it (the truth). They aren’t fools,” he asserts.

Arbaaz goes on to admit that comparisons are inevitable. “When you get compared to your father and brother, in a way you don’t feel bad, because mera bhai hi hai ultimately. People will continue doing that (comparing). A new cricketer will be compared to Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli... Yeh duniya ka dastur hai,” he signs off.
