Shantanu Maheshwari is aware of what it takes to network and make a mark for oneself in films. But, the actor says he would rather focus on his craft than socialise.

“When Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) released, I got advice like, ‘You need to go for film parties’. I think people were just surprised, and kind of shocked, that I finally got a chance,” he smiles.

The actor, who has done shows such as Dil Dosti Dance and Medically Yours as well as a number of music videos, adds, “I’m seeing a lot of good emotions around me. Hence, my focus is my work. People are more open to offering me roles, they are seeing me in a different light. It’s overwhelming! Kehte hain na, der aaye, durust aaye!”

As someone who has worked across mediums, does he feel the web is where actors taste success relatively more than the big screen? Maheshwari says it’s debatable, and goes on to add, “For me, if the story is good, the medium doesn’t make a difference. Somewhere or the other, if the emotions are right, it just connects.”

The actor turned 32 recently. For an artiste, every passing year is crucial, considering it dictates the kind of roles they get. Is that something which concerns him?

“I believe as long as I am fit and healthy, it (age) is just a number. I know there are a lot of people who think, ‘Oh, I am growing old’. But, what I feel is, if I am able to do what I was able to do two or three years ago, I am more than happy. I don’t stress about my age,” he says.
