As told to Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; January 26, 2023)

The best holiday I’ve had was in Italy, and one can never get tired of Rome, where every corner has a story to tell. Tuscany, on the other hand, is the perfect place to unwind — read a book, laze through the day, and enjoy the fresh food and outstanding wine. In India, Kashmir is among my favourite places.

Trekking in Ladakh has been one of the most calming experiences of my life. Apart from that trek, among my most memorable holiday activities are bungee jumping in Australia and scuba diving in the Maldives.

Recently, I went to Vietnam. It was an overcast afternoon in Hoi An, drizzling at times, and we had been walking through the Old Town for a few hours. And just when my hunger pangs were growing, we found ourselves in front of Banh Mi Phuong — an unassuming takeaway joint recommended by the late Anthony Bourdain. I cannot forget the first bite of that absolutely fresh baguette filled with many wonders. It felt like I had discovered new sensory experiences.
