Freddy, which has released today on Disney+ Hotstar, grips viewers from start to finish. Director Shashanka Ghosh neatly lays out the life and lifestyle of the protagonist, Dr Freddy Ginwala. Soon, viewers get lost in his world and the conflict that emerges in his tale makes for a great watch. The intermission point is a shocker. Post-interval, the madness continues though, at places, it slips. The writing also has some loose ends. The climax doesn’t leave viewers with a high, which one might expect, especially after the first half. Speaking of performances, Kartik Aaryan is in superb form. He has played over-the-top and commercial roles and even Dhamaka was a bit of a mainstream performance. Here, he has changed gears and he’s bound to surprise viewers. One of his most accomplished performances! Alaya F is a revelation and delivers a stupendous performance. Sajjad Delafrooz (Raymond) looks completely unrecognizable and does fine. Others do well. All in all, Freddy works due to the performances and unconventional narrative.
