KANTARA (Hindi) has emerged a HIT film as it shows strong holds in the third week which could turn out to be the best week in its run till date. The film is on a huge run in Maharashtra which is basically the reason for this film being a HIT. Gujarat/Saurashtra also got a boost in Diwali week which resulted in Mumbai circuit being 50% higher than the first week when it was already best by far in week one.
Even on the Diwali holiday this film was collecting double of RAM SETU and 6-7 times of THANK GOD in certain cinemas of Maharashtra and it was the first day of release of both these films while it was the 12th day of KANTARA. Barring SOORYAVANSHI and GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI, the collections coming from Maharashtra are a huge concern for Hindi films while the South films are tending to collect. This is why the industry sees business down in Maharashtra but exhibitors are not seeing it that way as there are collections coming from Marathi and South films. So exhibitors don't see business down in Maharashtra but down in likes of Delhi/UP, Rajasthan, CI and Bihar as they depend on Hindi films with limited support from regional cinema.
Mumbai city is doing okay but the two other big centres - Thane and Pune - are not doing well and other centres are even worse for outright Hindi films. KANTARA has managed to collect more than RAM SETU and THANK GOD in both Thane and Pune. In another words the second week seven day collections of KANTARA will be more than the first seven day numbers of RAM SETU and THANK GOD in both Pune and Thane.
The collections of KANTARA till date are as follows.
Week One - 14,19,00,000
Week Two - 15,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Third Week - 6,25,00,000 (2 days)
TOTAL - 35,69,00,000 apprx
