Ram Setu Review: Akshay Kumar's Film Is About A Floating Stone But Has No Clue How To Stay Afloat

RAM SETU did well on day one as it collected 15 crore nett with excellent collections in some circuits. Gujarat/Saurashtra, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Bihar all scored excellent numbers. UP was also fantastic but the Delhi/UP number remains good only as Delhi NCR had average collections. CI recorded the highest number of the year for original Hindi content beating BRAHMASTRA by a few lakhs.

The numbers outside the above mentioned areas should have been better due to the Diwali holiday but the appeal of the film seems to be less in the urban centres. Still, the film has managed at least good numbers in most circuits due to mass pockets except Mysore and West Bengal.

The opening day collections of the film give it a chance of success as it is a six day weekend and the next few days will still have some holiday benefit and then the weekend will come. So there is a chance of a good total over the first six days.

The collections are also good as the film lacked music and had Akshay Kumar in a non hero like look but still audiences in mass pockets have come in numbers despite not having the elements which generally pull in these audiences. The religion factor coinciding with the Diwali probably helped the film.

RAM SETU had a decent second day grossing around 11 crore nett and taking its two day total to 26 crore nett. The drop on day two is around 25% which is par for the course. The film benefited with practically no drop in business in Gujarat and UP due to the Diwali.

The film has the same drop as compared to THANK GOD but the difference here is the film is doing good numbers in the Hindi circuits. Gujarat/Saurashtra was again 2.25 crore nett like day one while places like Rajasthan and CI did 93 lakhs and 56 lakhs nett respectively which are strong collections as most films have not been able to get these collections on day one.

The film is not as good as in the metros as these have dropped more on the second day but it was always unlikely as it did not appeal the urban youth. There will be further drops over the next two days as the holiday effect wares down and the target will be come back into double digits on Saturday or Sunday.
