Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi ’s legal woes continue
HINDUSTAN TIMES (September 16, 2022)

On Wednesday, actor Jacqueline Fernandez was questioned by the office of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police for over eight hours in connection with a Rs. 200-crore money laundering case linked to jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. And on Thursday, actor Nora Fatehi was questioned regarding the same case, as new chats of her with Chandrashekhar discussing cars emerged online.

Fernandez reached the EOW office around 11am along with her lawyer to join the investigation. According to reports, she was given a questionnaire with at least 100 questions inquiring about her relationship with Chandrashekhar and the gifts she received from him.

Mumbai-based Pinky Irani, who allegedly introduced Fernandez to Chandrashekhar, was also called, and according to ANI, Fernandez and Irani engaged in a war of words during the questioning.

While Irani accused Fernandez of accepting gifts from Chandrashekhar, despite knowing that he was behind bars on charges of cheating people of Rs. 200 crore, Fernandez accused Irani of lying. She said she had no idea about Chandrashekhar’s background. Both of them reportedly abused each other, after which police had to intervene. In February this year, the Patiala House Court granted bail to Irani, who was arrested on December 9, 2021, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with regards to this case.

It’s not over for Fernandez, as many reports indicate that she has been asked to stay back in Delhi as she might be called again to help further the investigation.

Meanwhile, while defending herself, Fernandez questioned why her colleague Fatehi was being treated differently. One report states that when asked if she associated with Chandrashekhar for money, Fernandez insisted that she wasn’t a gold digger by revealing her fee for one film, which is Rs. 7 crores.
