BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) showed excellent growth of 15% on Saturday and that is coming off a big Friday number. The percentage growth may not look a lot but it is huge for a film like this as films that open with strong day one have a chance that collections will be flat on the second day and then going up on day three. The second day collections of BRAHMASTRA are around 35.50 crore nett in Hindi taking it to 66.50 crore nett in two days.
Also the growth is actually higher than it looks as there was a part holiday in Maharashtra and South on day one. Maharashtra has still managed to make small gains but in South there is a drop as basically that had overperformed on day one. Both regional and Hindi versions dropped in South. Maharashtra made minor gains due to partial holiday on day one but because of good growth in Gujarat/Saurashtra the circuit of Mumbai went up 10% to almost 11 crore nett.
The growth in North, Central and Gujarat/Saurashtra is excellent as these areas went up in the region of 15-30% and these are the core Hindi markets and mass pockets in these areas all went up strongly. The best growth in the range of 30% came in the Delhi NCR and Punjab belt. The slight concern on day one was the huge ratio from South even in Hindi but that has all changed on day two with Hindi circuits leading the way. It was the probably the holiday factor that pushed places like Nizam/Andhra to huge collections on day one. The second day has dropped over 1 crore nett here but still overall collections are nearly 12 crore nett an its on course to beat the 25 crore nett (all languages) of DANGAL.
The growth on day two puts the film on course to emerge a HIT and it will be coming after a long time though it will be the Monday number which will confirm the HIT status of the film. The film has also set an all time record at PVR and Cinepolis chains for Hindi films for the highest single days ever.
The collections of BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) are as follows.
Friday - 31,00,00,000
Saturday - 35,50,00,000
TOTAL - 66,50,00,000
The collections of the film in all formats stand at around 35.75 crore nett and 39.50 crore nett for a two day total of 75 crore nett in two days. The film has continued its extraordinary run in overseas as well to enable it to have huge worldwide gross numbers in two days.
-------------------------------------
BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) has seen good growth in the key Hindi circuits with even Delhi/UP pushing up 22% despite UP state forming a huge part of the circuit which does not grow much on Saturday for big films. But here the state went up a solid 15%.
The trend is of solid growth in East Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat while the growth on Saturday in CI can be called phenomenal as this circuit does not jump like this on a Saturday. No doubt Sunday goes up heavily but its rare for a big film to see this sort of 30% jump on Saturday.
The Mumbai circuit jump may by only 10% but that is still commendable as Maharashtra was coming off a semi holiday. Hence, the real value growth is probably 20-25% rather than 10%. The national multiplex chains have also seen solid growth on day two but that was expected though it probably surpassed the expectations.
The collections for BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) from some circuits and the national chains are below for the first two days.
