BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) did very well on its second Friday grossing around 8.25 crore nett which was more than the Thursday number. There was actually some some solid growth in the bigger centres dominated by multiplexes but the same was not replicated in smaller centres and single screens. The limited competition has helped but the content has to be working at some point for a film not to see a drop at the start of the second week especially when losing cinemas.

There has been a conjecture in the industry whether the film has been accepted but that was pretty clear on the growth on the first Saturday. Its just the acceptance is not across the board but probably limited to the top twenty cities. For a big film to be a BLOCKBUSTER, it needs acceptance all over but here its more about the bigger cities and multiplexes in general and these look like driving the film to  HIT status.

The business today (Saturday) should confirm the HIT status of the film as there will be solid growth as now the business is mainly dominated by multiplexes which should show strong growth on Saturday and generally run strong over weekends. The weaker collecting cinemas are not there now in the second week which bought the growth down last Saturday.

Despite not finding acceptance all over the circuit figures are good everywhere due to contribution from the bigger cities. Even a Bihar has comfortably crossed the 4 crore nett mark in week one on the strength of the 4-5 main cities and this is a good first week number in Bihar especially for a film which has not been taken to by the single screen audience. Bihar is a circuit dominated by single screens.

The collections of the film are now 154 crore nett plus in Hindi. The film also collected around 40-50 lakhs nett in dubbed languages which takes that version to 19 crore nett apprx and a total of 173 crore nett in all formats. The contribution from languages is mainly from Telugu which stands over 15 crore nett now.
