BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) had an excellent first weekend as it collected almost 105 crore nett and that too without a holiday. The growth was strong on Saturday as the first day was probably boosted by around 2 crore nett due to the semi holiday. But mass pockets did not push on Sunday as they could have. The growth was good but there was potential to go higher.

The film has scored all over in the first weekend with excellent business in the big 20 cities while others places range from very good to good. But as Sunday did not push up high, it will be more about the bigger centres driven by the 3D version while B and C centres will be lesser.

The film saw solid growth on Sunday in places like Gujarat and CI but in that 20-30% zone. If these places could have pushed up 40-50% on Sunday then it could have been said with certainty now that the film would sustain strongly in the long run. Now, its about seeing what the weekdays bring.

There was a negative agenda against the film on Friday with the national press picking up the big loss in share price of PVR and Inox and labelling the film is a disaster based on that. But post release on Monday the share prices have recovered as actual facts come across but now no one will talk about that. Its likely that people in the industry even highlighted this and obviously they have some sort of agenda as well as they will also not highlight the recovery.

The collections of BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) are as follows.
Friday - 31,00,00,000
Saturday - 35,00,00,000
Sunday - 38,50,00,000
TOTAL - 1,04,50,00,000

The film did well in languages in South as it grossed 13.50 crore nett which is almost the highest ever for a Hindi film in languages. The Telugu version is already the highest ever and in Tamil, the film has also done pretty well with good growth on Saturday. This has however meant Hindi versions in these places are probably a little less than they should especially in Tamil Nadu. The film collected 118 crore nett across India in all formats.
-----------------------------------
BRAHMASTRA collected a record 30.25 crore nett for a Hindi film in South India as Telugu version did well and Tamil version did pretty well. The South total is pretty much similar to Mumbai circuit and in fact a little ahead. The film is course to becoming the highest grosser in Nizam/Andhra in all formats beating DANGAL though it wont beat the Hindi version of the Aamir Khan starrer in Nizam Andhra.

BRAHMASTRA collected 10.90 crore nett in Telugu, 2.61 crore nett in Tamil and 16 lakh in Kannada and practically zero in Malayalam. There was around 25 lakhs in regional from Hindi circuits also. This gives the film a total of 13.92 crore nett in regional languages.
