Vani Bhojan is quite excited about her upcoming web series, Tamil Rockerz helmed by director Arivazhagan. The actor believes the show, which delves into the nefarious world of digital piracy and the entertainment industry’s battle against it, will have a discourage the audience from indulging in this illegal practice.

“The reason some people watch pirated versions of films is because they are unable to gauge the sweat and blood the industry puts into a project. We thought the issue could be addressed to a larger audience through the web series,” she says.

Calling it an “emotional journey”, the Oh My Kadavule and Mahaan actor states that the show might be an eye-opener for many. “While working on the series, I had first-hand experience of the agony that the film industry goes through every time pirated versions surface on the internet. People who do not really understand why we need to put a stop to piracy, will have a better understanding of the subject after watching the show and may never watch them after this.”

Ask her if it was easier to resonate with the concept since it dealt with an issue that her industry was a part of, the 33-year-old replies in the negative: “Actually, no. Before working on this show, all I knew was that piracy was illegal. It eventually became a journey for me.”

The actor, who plays a cyber forensic head in the show, says it was a great learning experience for her. “Arivazhagan is a brilliant director and puts a lot of effort into a project. He was so clear about my role that I barely had to do any prep work. He hardly took any breaks during filming and worked on very little sleep.”

She adds, “Our only focus was on the series and we worked on it with gusto and passion. The team never compromised on any aspect. We were constantly travelling, working 24X7.”

Talking about working with Arun Vijay for the first time, in the show, she shares, “Despite being an experienced actor, he never thrusted his ideas on me and let me be myself. He was quite chill on the sets. So, there was no pressure.”
