The South dubbed film KARTHIKEYA 2 is attempting to break out as it did well on the Independence Day holiday in terms of occupancy with collections being twenty times higher than the first day at many places. The final collections from many circuits are still to come but it may have collected around 1.25 crore nett on the big holiday which is not exactly a high number but the film started with just a few lakhs.

The film is a sort of mythological adventure film from the Telugu film industry and has done very well there since release on Saturday. It still remains to be how it does in Hindi as do the collections continue to go upwards as there is huge potential or is this the highest point for the film. The film has got enough of an audience in on Monday to work with word of mouth which was not the case on Saturday or Sunday.

In Maharashtra, the film was competing with RAKSHA BANDHAN and LAAL SINGH CHADDHA in terms of collections in many cinemas while in Gujarat it was competing with LAAL SINGH CHADDHA. These films may not be doing well but to compete with them is sill an achievement in these states.

It remains to be seen what happens over the next few days as if the film can really push, it can benefit with the open period as the big Hindi films will fall from today.
