Last year in May, the TV industry was shocked when actor couple Nisha Rawal and Karan Mehra’s marriage hit an all-time low. Nisha filed a complaint against Karan at the Goregaon Police Station. She reached the police station with a bleeding forehead and alleged that her husband had banged her head against the wall. Karan was arrested and later released on bail. Then, a series of allegations followed, and Nisha filed cases against him and his family for domestic violence, dowry, unnatural sex and criminal intimidation. She also accused him of having an extramarital affair. On Thursday, almost 14 months after the fallout, Karan held a press conference, during which he addressed the allegations levied on him by his estranged wife.

In his press conference, Karan levelled allegations against Nisha. He claimed that Nisha is in a relationship with her ‘namesake’ brother of 14 years, Rohit Sethia, who is from Lucknow.

Karan said, “Nisha is staying with another man in my house. We have produced the proof in the court and that is why I am talking here today. Nisha is having an extramarital affair. Rohit Sethia is her muhbola bhai of 14 years. I didn’t have proof back then, that’s why I didn’t say anything.”

Karan further alleged, “Nisha wanted to take away my car, property, business, our son (Kavish). And she did this by trapping me in false cases. But I did not give up for the sake of my family. I didn’t have time to get emotional.”

Karan said that when he went to his house last November, he was thrown out. “I went with my bankers for the car and to get my basic stuff. I had literally been living life out of one suitcase. They physically assaulted me there and didn’t allow me to meet my son,” he said.

Addressing the incident on May 27 last year, when Nisha accused him of banging her head against the wall, Karan said, “Nisha Rawal, Rohit Sethia and Laxmi Rawal (Nisha’s mother) conspired against me. That day, I was recovering from COVID-19 and was sleeping when they barged in. Rohit hit me while Laxmi was recording a video to see if I reacted, but I never hit back. That video never came out. It was all staged. He physically assaulted me under the pretext of being Nisha’s brother.”

Karan also said that he has received death threats. He added, “I got them from unknown numbers. Rohit Sethia called up a few people to intimidate me and they started talking to my bankers. Who are they to talk to my bankers? The house is mine, the car is mine, who are they to interfere? I have proof of everything. I have submitted proof of 1,400 pages in court.”

Karan said he has been missing his four-year-old son and will fight for his custody. “Rohit is staying at my house with Nisha, and my little son is in the same house. I have had no access to my child, I just managed to meet Kavish on November 2.”

Karan added, “In our country, there are many laws made to protect women because, in the past, women had to undergo a lot of problems. But no one should take advantage of these laws. Everyone saw the verdict in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case, I won’t go into details. I will just fight for my son till I get his custody.”
