The new release this week, DOBAARAA, was a poor fare as it collected in the 65-75 lakh range. These type of films have little chance at the box office but are having to be released as per the demands of the OTT platforms as they don't want direct releases unless its a big star or banner where the relationship is good.

Considering the sort of initials taken by LAAL SINGH CHADDHA and DOBAARAA, then this 65 lakh plus number for DOBAARAA is pretty much par for the course for the film which holds very little appeal. It has managed to get better collections than SHABAASH MITHU which had collected around 40 lakhs nett on day one.

The dubbed film from South KARTHIKEYA 2 is doing pretty well on its second Friday with collections in the 1.50-1.75 crore nett. The film had a six day first week and the first two days it hardly had a release and slowly went wider and wider with the second Friday being the widest.

The film has grossed around 6.50 crore nett till date and could compete with ROCKETRY: THE NAMBI EFFECT which is the biggest film from the South at around 21-22 crore nett outside the films which got tremendous appreciation and were winners. ROCKETRY: THE NAMBI EFFECT was a bilingual like RADHE SHYAM but the audience does not really distinguish between bilingual and dubbed as the faces tell if its a South film and general perception will go towards dubbed.
