Out of sight, out of mind is correct in case of films, says Chitrangda

Actor Chitrangda Singh has never been one to take up a lot of work. Over the last five years, she’s only done five films and one web show — Modern Love Mumbai. In an industry that is said to be cut-throat, being choosy can have its side effects and the actor agrees. “That is correct to quite an extent. Out of sight can be out of mind here (in showbiz). But if you do good work, it stays relevant for a longer time; it has a longer shelf life. As an actor, it’s important to do good work for your own satisfaction,” says Singh.

The 45-year-old adds that doing something mediocre, just for the sake of it, can affect an artiste as well. “If you put bad work out there, it shakes your confidence, too. It’s a critical balance that one has to maintain,” says Singh, who will be seen next in the film, Gaslight, with actors Sara Ali Khan and Vikrant Massey.

Singh says that every actor wants to work, but it is imperative to make the right choices. “Actors need to like what they are doing. If I like whatever gets offered to me, I end up doing it. I enjoyed everything I have done so far. It’s not like I don’t want to work. There’s no actor who wouldn’t want to work, stare at the wall or be home,” the actor ends.
