SOME OF MY FILMS
DIDN’T RELEASE DUE
TO FINANCIAL ISSUES
Sharib Hashmi says it hurts when films get stuck due to financial or production issues, and your ‘hard work goes down the drain’

One thing actor Sharib Hashmi is not willing to compromise on anymore while signing up for a film is a capable producer who will ensure a release. This learning comes from a couple of bad experiences, where his films either didn’t get a proper release or weren’t released at all.

“Mere saath bahut baar hua hai. That’s the reason I want to work with a producer who can take the journey to completion. Midway through chhod do toh humari mehnat goes down the drain,” explains Hashmi.

“Bahut afsos hota hai jab koi achha kaam kiya ho, but because of financial or production issues, the film gets stuck,” adds the 46-year-old, who has been a part of projects such as Scam 1992, Asur and the one which propelled him to fame, The Family Man, in which he played the popular character, JD.

The actor, 46, adds, “Hum logon ko bahut bura lagta hai jab yeh sab hota hai.” But he points out that sometimes actors also end up making choices that are wrong to begin with.

He admits, “Kai baar aap galat bhi ho jaate ho. You can only choose films or web shows that are offered. At times, you are right, but at times, you miss the mark, too. Everything is a learning process. You never fail, but get to learn something new.”
