DHAAKAD has seen horrible collections as the film is struggling to reach the 2 crore nett mark after four days and is one of the biggest disasters of all time. The film has just failed completely with simply no takers. The female action genre has seen very limited success though PHOOL BANE ANGARAY in 1992 was a big HIT. There may well be others but that one comes to mind first.
The genre can still maybe work but you probably need a female star who is very popular. Rekha in 1992 was not the biggest star but was still very popular due the body of work and when you have star like that the correct content will work. Here, Kangana Ranuat is not among the top female stars today and the content is also probably poor and so results are dreadful.
There are huge disasters like 83, ZERO and MOHENJO DARO which lose insane amounts of money with the former losing around 80 crore. Here DHAAKAD may not lose as much as the cost inclusive of everything is close to 100 crore and there will be a rebate, satellite and digital to come. The recovery on these will not be much as they were late deals as the makers had refused the deals before promos started in the hope for better deals.
The exact figures are not known yet but it would be no surprise if it came out with losses of around 70 crore. Here at least the likes of 83 and ZERO collected something at the box office due to the hype and some star presence while this film has not collected at all and will suffer similar losses. It is tough for a film like DHAAKAD to lose as much as those films as the costs are far lower for DHAAKAD but it has almost managed the feat.
The three day collections of DHAAKAD are as follows.
Friday - 50,00,000
Saturday - 55,00,000
Sunday - 60,00,000
Monday - 20,00,000
TOTAL - 1,85,00,000
