Sonam and Anand’s Delhi residence robbed

The police says cash and jewellery worth ₹2.4 crore has been stolen from the house. The complaint was filed on February 23

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s Delhi residence, where Anand’s parents stay was burgled in February, and cash and jewellery worth Rs. 2. 4 crore were stolen. On Saturday, the Delhi Police issued a statement saying that they received a complaint from the residence of Harish Ahuja (Sonam’s father-in-law) regarding a burglary in February. The police officials say that while the complainant got to know about it on February 11, the complaint was filed 12 days later on February 23.

The police say that several teams have been formed, and the case is still under investigation. However, currently, the staff is under suspicion as the police have registered an FIR under Section 381 (“Theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master”).

Amrutha Guguloth, DCP New Delhi, Delhi Police, said in a statement, “A complaint was made on Feb 23 that there was a theft at the residence of Harish Ahuja, at Amrita Shergill Marg. They complained that some cash and jewellery combined worth Rs. 2. 4 crore was stolen. They had noticed it on Feb 11 but filed the complaint on February 23. An FIR was registered under IPC Section 381 at Tughlaq Road Police Station on Feb 23, and an investigation started. Teams have been formed, and an examination of the evidence is underway. ”

A source from the police says, “As it is a high-profile case, we’ve been asked to not share details.” Earlier, it was reported that Sonam’s father-in-law’s firm was duped of Rs. 27 crore. In that matter, 10 people were arrested. Sonam and Anand are currently at her father Anil Kapoor’s house in Mumbai. The couple is expecting their first child.

Actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and her husband-businessman Anand Ahuja’s residence in Delhi’s Amrita Shergill Marg was robbed, and cash and jewellery worth ₹1.41 crore were stolen. Sonam’s mother-in-law, Priya Ahuja, was the first one to rush to the Tughlaq Road police station to lodge a complaint about the robbery that took place at their house, reportedly. 

As per ABP News Marathi, the Delhi Police is questioning 25 employees, including nine caretakers, drivers, gardeners, and other workers.

In her complaint to the police, Sarla Ahuja (Anand’s grandmother) claimed that she got to know of the theft on February 11, when she checked her cupboards for jewellery and cash. The complaint was lodged on February 23. Soon after, the police began going through the CCTV footage to look for evidence and identify suspects. The culprits are yet to be identified. 

Last month, a report claimed that Sonam’s father-in-law, Harish Ahuja, of a Faridabad-based import-export firm, was duped of Rs. 27 crore in a novel cyber fraud. Meanwhile, Sonam and Anand are in Mumbai and are expecting their first baby.
