The Lost City is a timepass entertainer and rests on a great premise. Despite being in the similar zone as Red Notice, Jungle Cruise, Uncharted etc, it doesn’t give a déjà vu of any of these films. The characters of Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum are well fleshed out and their chemistry adds to the fun. A few comic moments and dialogues also stand out. On the flipside, the action scenes don’t have the ‘Wow’ factor. Hollywood big budget films have set a certain benchmark when it comes to action and The Lost City fails to reach there in this regard, except for the Brad Pitt sequence. The villain track is also weak and the finale is a bit underwhelming. Speaking of performances, Sandra Bullock is wonderful and underplays nicely. Channing Tatum, meanwhile, goes all out and is impressive as he plays to the gallery. Daniel Radcliffe is okay and is let down by the writing. Brad Pitt is dashing and rocks the show with a 10-minute appearance. Da'Vine Joy Randolph is quite good. All in all, The Lost City is a nice, one-time watch.
My rating - *** out of 5!
