Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that ‘The Kashmir Files’ was a “Sangh Parivar-inspired film released to win the next elections”. In his weekly column Rok Thok in Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Raut said several truths were buried in the film, which is an agenda for the next elections, adding that while the film will bag an award, its director will soon be given a Padma Shri or Padma Bhushan award.

“The film’s promotions have been taken over by PM Modi himself. This is a classic example of how to keep the people of the country in a trance. The Kashmir Files have been opened to win polls in states like Gujarat and Rajasthan. But the real truth about Kashmir is yet to come out on the screen,” Raut wrote while also asking who was in power in Delhi and Kashmir when Kashmiri Pandits were attacked and murdered.

“The film will now receive an award. The director will be awarded the Padma Shri or the Padma Bhushan. An attempt is being made to create Hindu-Muslim controversy via the film. We’re sorry that Hindu Pandits haven’t returned home yet. BJP and PM Narendra Modi had promised to repatriate Kashmiri Pandits. Why hasn’t it been completed yet? Why did Kashmir not develop? It’s not right to politicise the Kashmir issue. Fulfill your promise to bring back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,” Raut said on Sunday.
