RRR (Hindi) showed solid growth on Saturday of 25% as it collected 24 crore nett which is a very good trend for a film in this zone. Its not huge growth but for such a big film catering to the mass audience, this is excellent. The plus for the film was that business in single screens hardly saw a drop which enabled practically all circuits to make good gains on Saturday. The business went up even in places like CPCI Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The collections on Saturday are in the same range as SOORYAVANSHI on the first Saturday but the markets were not as healthy at that time as they are today. However, on the flip side, RRR has got a weaker release Hindi release in the South due to regional versions and SOORYAVANSHI is up almost a 1 crore nett from that side. The final settled numbers on Saturday at the end of the week could be a few lakhs higher than SOORYAVANSHI.

The occupancy of RRR is weakest in Punjab and NCR but it is still better than SOORYAVANSHI if we compare the Saturday figures as that film under performed in North outside UP where some key cinemas were still shut and so it was not optimum in UP also. Not only did North score better but Gujarat where SOORYAVANSHI was extraordinary saw RRR with collections which were quite close to SOORYAVANSHI on Saturday which is phenomenal.

The best news for RRR is the jump in mass circuits on Saturday and this should mean a huge Sunday and should be the highest single day collections post the pandemic beating whatever the likes of SOORYAVANSHI and THE KASHMIR FILES reached. Hopefully the number will easily breach the 30 crore nett mark on Sunday and then it will the huge acid test on Monday. This will be the first time 30 crore nett is topped post the pandemic if RRR manages to get there.

The two day numbers so far are good enough and the Sunday will be much better but that Monday is hugely important because of the costs involved and it needs to sustain as despite a likely excellent weekend it had to be higher for the costs involved. So it becomes about making ground over the weekdays which can easily be done.
