Producer Aditya Chopra appears to be betting big on Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He has not only chosen the Divyang Thakkar-helmed comedy to kickstart the 50-year celebrations of Yash Raj Films, but is also keen to immortalise the protagonist through the written word. One hears that the makers will develop Hindi and English comic book series based on the quick-witted protagonist, after the film’s release.

“In Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Divyang and co-producer Maneesh Sharma have created an intelligent, sharp-witted and an underdog of a hero. The more Adi saw the material, the more he was convinced that the lead character has enduring value. He felt Jayeshbhai has the potential to appeal to a wide audience, especially kids. So, they are planning to turn it into a comic book series,” reveals a source close to the development.

The series will capture the adventures of the Gujarat-based character, and the wise lessons he learns from them. As the film — also starring Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy (2017) fame — gears up for a May 13 release, the makers are apparently considering developing the social comedy as a franchise.
