Ajay Devgn’s character in Drishyam (2015), Vijay Salgoankar, made the audience believe that his family actually went on a holiday, which was a well-etched plan to save them from a murder conviction. Now, the actor is all set to reprise one of his most intriguing onscreen characters for the sequel — Drishyam 2.

The story unveils a journey that will leave the audience wondering how Vijay will find his way out this time around. The sequel aims to go a step further than the original and will unravel a certain mood and theme, which will be captivating for a global audience.

Drishyam 2, directed by commenced shooting in Mumbai and will be extensively shot in Goa in the coming months. The film will feature the star cast of the first film including Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta, among others. The story unfolds seven years after the events in the first film and tests Vijay’s resolve to protect his family under any circumstances.

Talking about both the films, Ajay says, “Drishyam was loved by audiences. I am elated to present yet another Drishyam 2. Vijay is a multidimensional character and he creates an engaging narrative onscreen. Abhishek Pathak has a fresh vision for this film. I’m keenly looking forward to part two and I’m sure that audiences will enjoy the mystery and characters as much as they did in the earlier film. ”

Taking over the director’s mantle for the sequel, Abhishek, who won the National Award for Best Short Fiction Film, Boond, in 2009, says, “Making an official remake of a successful franchise film is an honour and a challenge. An opportunity to work along with Ajay Devgn, who is such a powerhouse of talent is a morale booster for any creative person; his unique influence is undoubtedly the most enriching experience for me personally. It’s exciting to retell a story from your own perspective and vision and make it extraordinary.
