This year’s Lohri is extra special for actor Aparshakti Khurana because it is his first with his daughter, Arzoie. The actor plans to spend the entire day with her, and even have her share of “rewaris, phullas and moongfali”.

“This is Arzoie’s first Lohri, and we (Khurana and wife Aakriti Ahuja) would have loved for our extended family and close friends to join us. However, due to the increase in cases, this will not be possible. It’ll just be us now, but I’m looking forward to it because it’ll be my little one’s first,” Khurana says, adding, “My mum makes us chant ‘til sade paap sade papiyan de paap jadhien’. I can’t wait for Arzoie to grow up and chant the same in front of the holy fire with her mouth full of popcorn and rewaris.”

The family intended to celebrate the festival in Khurana’s hometown, Chandigarh. However, they will now celebrate it in Mumbai. “Being stuck in a pandemic isn’t a pleasant feeling at all. However, we need to be conscious and do our bit,” the 34-year-old says.

According to Khurana, the harvest festival is about prosperity, warmth, and, most importantly, health — all of which are crucial in the Coronavirus pandemic era. “This year, we’ll need to do more than just pray for our health and the health of others. The majority of this includes staying at home or stepping out only when absolutely necessary, not to mention taking necessary precautions,” he concludes.
