Mahie Gill doesn’t get affected by what people think or say about her taking up less number of films. In a career spanning 18 years, the actor has done 30 odd films, and that too not just about any project that came her way.

Has she ever taken up any film just to fill up her calendar? “If you see my work for the past 10 years, you will notice maine bahut kam kaam kiya hai. It all depends on what excites me; that’s very important for me. If you go on set and are not excited, you won’t be able to perform. There is no point doing it,” says the actor, recently seen in the second season of the web show Your Honour.

Turning 46 today, Gill doesn’t have too many wishes on her birthday — just one, and that too is for her craft: “Mujhe romantic roles milte hi nahin! People think I can’t do romance. I am waiting for something romantic to come my way.”

It is said that egos are fragile in showbiz, and turning down a project might sometimes end up rubbing people the wrong way. Gill reveals that it has happened with her many times. “People have been upset with me. Ab main kya kar sakti hoon if a project does not excite me? At the same time, bread and butter are necessary. Luckily, I am okay in that department. It’s not like I have to work to earn... I am a very satisfied person in life. Yeh bhi karna hai, voh bhi karna hai nahin hai. That is the one reason I am able to say no to a lot of things that I do not want to do,” the actor concludes.
