CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI had a low first day of 3.25 crore nett though collections from Delhi city, Gurgaon, Noida and Chandigarh were pretty decent. These four cities with around 100 cinemas contributed almost one third of the all India business of the film while the other 1200 plus contributed the rest.

East Punjab has seen the highest first day number after SOORYAVANSHI and its the same in all cinemas in Delhi NCR (except Ghaziabad). The Delhi/UP number could not reach the level of TADAP and ANTIM - THE FINAL TRUTH as collections from UP state were not good. Gujarat which is the area giving pre pandemic performance was very dull and always unlikely to accept this sort of content.

The bigger problem with the film has come in the metros like Mumbai, Kolkata and Pune as these have to support the film for it to have a chance to collect well. Generally there is a problem with the metro audience coming out like it did before the pandemic. For SOORYAVANSHI, this audience came out and its not that the likes of SOORYAVANSHI break records in metros but basically the audience came out at a level close to it would for SOORYAVANSHI pre pandemic.

But since then, the collections in the metro multiplexes have not been good, but the likes of TADAP and ANTIM - THE FINAL TRUTH put up reasonable numbers due to support from mass markets. CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI was never going to got support from the likes of UP, Gujarat, MP etc and the hope was this would bring out that big city multiplex audience which is the target audience for this film but it was not to be.

This metro multiplex audience should come out for the likes of SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and '83. But those are huge films while the industry needs the metro multiplex audience to come out for the likes of CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI to be on the right track as there as so many films made like this and it was this audience which gave these type of films some numbers.

CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI will show growth on the second day but there is a lot of ground to cover as this is low starting point and so the growth has to be huge. There were many films showing 60-80% growth pre pandemic driven by the metros but it seems a different scenario at present.
