SOORYAVANSHI had an excellent weekend as it collected around the 27.50 crore nett mark on Sunday giving it a weekend of 77.50 crore nett. The Sunday doing better than the Diwali holiday holiday is a huge result for the film. In pre pandemic times, the film would have probably done around 105-110 crore nett if it had a Diwali release date and the holiday fell on the first day. 

This 77.50 crore has come with a rushed release due to the tussle with multiplexes which affected the collections on the morning of release and with restrictions in various places. The Maharashtra restrictions have hit the film quite a lot as this belt is where the film has found strongest appreciation. If these things are taken out of the equation then the film could have done around 85 crore nett.

This 85 crore nett is the fair value number which means the actual market post pandemic compared to pre pandemic was around 20-25% less for SOORYAVANSHI and this is a great result for the first film back. It means its going to business pretty much as normal for films which are expected to open under 20 crore nett once all restrictions are gone.

The bigger numbers will also be ready to come but that will take a little longer as more of the audience returns. This is fine for this year as none of the releases will be looking at 30 crore nett opening day. Basically the HINDI film industry is back in business and now if SOORYAVANSHI can hold strong over the next two weeks it will be the perfect comeback

SOORYAVANSHI has become the highest opening weekend for Akshay Kumar with collections of 77 crore nett plus beating the previous best of MISSION MANGAL by 10 crore nett.

If the film released had released before the pandemic, it can be said with certainty that it would have been the first 100 crore nett weekend for Akshay Kumar and smashed records of all his films by huge distances.

Still even after the pandemic the records have been smashed by good margins and Mumbai with Maharashtra at 50% occupancy has beaten his other releases by a huge 40%. Its the first time that an Akshay Kumar starrer has gone over 30 crore nett in Mumbai circuit in the opening weekend.
