SOORYAVANSHI emerged the only HIT film of 2021 from the Hindi film industry thanks to extraordinary business Gujarat/Saurashtra which led to excellent business in Mumbai circuit. The film would not have been a HIT if it released in 2019 and did this much business only but things have changed since then.
If it released in 2019 and did 195 crore nett only, then it would have basically been in the same category as the Salman Khan starrer BHARAT but in 2019 you would assume it would have done more. Also if it had released in 2019, it would have had the same budget as BHARAT also but the delay meant the budget going higher.
The difference in 2021 was that the films were less reliant on box office recovery due to higher recovery from digital and a shortened window for theatrical which will have to go back to normal in time for the bigger films for better box office results. SOORYAVANSHI had a huge recovery of 175 crore from satellite, digital and music and this would have been much less in 2019. The worldwide theatrical recovery was around 120 crore.
The performance of the film was lacklustre in some circuits in the country. At some places, it was because cinemas had just started to get going (Bihar) and at other places it was due to less appreciation (Delhi, Punjab).
The worst performance was East Punjab but here it would have been better in Haryana cities but these were under restrictions when the film opened. It was Gujarat/Saurashtra which actually made the film a HIT and that's why, a Diwali release was so important for this film as a Rohit Shetty film to fail on Diwali in Gujarat/Saurashtra is pretty much unthinkable.

SOORYAVANSHI collected 65 lakhs nett in its sixth week which is still a reasonable collection and on Sunday, the numbers of this film were beating ANTIM - THE FINAL TRUTH in some cinemas despite being in the sixth week.
The total collections are now 194.75 crore nett and it will be above 195 crore nett by the end of the week. The film has now being screened on digital for a week but the trend of collections is pretty much as before and its not as if the collections dropped off in the week of digital release. The film has set a benchmark for 2021 and it remains to be seen if it remains on top or can '83 challenge it.

SOORYAVANSHI is now coming to an end of its run as it collects 10 lakhs nett on its sixth Friday which will mean a 1 crore nett sixth week on a best case scenario. So far the film has collected 194.25 crore nett and the finish is now looking 195.50 crore nett.
The Mumbai circuit figures are looing to finish around the 86 crore nett mark which will be the 11th or 12th highest number ever in the circuit and this is coming with 50% occupancy allowed in Maharashtra. It is a huge performance in Mumbai circuit and even though Gujarat gets a boost with Diwali week, the business in Maharashtra has been phenomenal as well considering the situation.

SOORYAVANSHI collected well again in week five with collections in the 3 crore nett range which takes its five week total to 194 crore nett and there will be a little more to come. It remains to be seen if it finishes at 195 crore nett plus or gets above 196 crore nett.
The drop in week five is around 55% which is excellent considering practically other films are struggling to hold even for two weeks. The film has seen a recovery of over 300 crore from all revenue sources which puts the film in the black even though it went hugely over budget due to the pandemic. At the the end of the day, it is a fantastic result for the film.
Also the film has seen record collections in Gujarat outside BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and a huge performance in Mumbai circuit despite Maharashtra having restrictions. Without these restrictions, it would have gone even further.

SOORYAVANSHI continues to collect well good numbers considering its in week five as it went up 85% on its fifth Saturday to collect 65 lakhs. The total collection in week five is now 1 crore nett and its overall total is 192 crore nett.
SOORYAVANSHI is also now the third highest grossing for Akshay Kumar after HOUSEFULL 4 and GOOD NEWWZ as it beat the numbers of MISSION MANGAL after 30 days run at the box office.

SOORYAVANSHI took its lifetime to 193 crore nett after its fifth weekend. The film continues to run despite competition from other new releases as it picks up close to 2 crore nett in its fifth weekend.
The run is coming to an end now and its looking to end in the 196 crore nett range. It just remains to be seen if it crosses the business of GOOD NEWWZ to become the second highest grosser of Akshay Kumar. Also it may end among the top ten grossers of all time in Mumbai circuit. The figures so far are around 86 crore nett..
The film is lacking in some circuits but considering it was the real proper release after 18 months you take that as the overall performance was very good.

SOORYAVANSHI will have another good week as it collects 35 lakh nett apprx on its fifth Friday and takes its overall total to 191.50 crore nett. The drop is less than 50% from last Friday and again weekend should show big gains.
The fifth Friday practically confirms that the film will finish in that 195-196 crore nett range and if it goes towards the higher end then it will be the second highest grossing film of Akshay Kumar after HOUSEFULL 4. The film continues to score in Mumbai/Gujarat and is now sure to cross 85 crore nett in the circuit over the weekend and may well be among the top ten grossing films in the circuit by the end of its run.
The North has not performed as well as Mumbai with Delhi/UP looking at a 33 crore nett finish and East Punjab looking at a little over 10 crore nett.

SOORYAVANSHI had another good week as it collected 6.25 crore nett taking the total collections of the film to 191 crore nett. The film is coming to an end of its run and may well add another 5 crore nett or so. The fourth week collections are higher than any other Diwali release date.
The film is a looking at a 195 crore nett finish which is a good result for the film. The pandemic meant the financials of the film went haywire but the box office result will mean that the film will be a safe proposal.
Basically the film is appreciated and would have made good profits but now these profits have been eaten up by the pandemic but coming out of the pandemic and performing at the needed level at the box office is a result. Now it will be the turn of the Christmas release, '83, which also felt the force of pandemic heavily and economics went haywire to get through.

SOORYAVANSHI showed no drop on its fourth Tuesday with collections pretty much similar to its fourth Monday number and this takes the film to a total of 190 crore nett plus. The film will add another 6.25-6.50 crore nett in week four which is the highest fourth week total for a Diwali release beating the 5.1 crore nett of GOLMAAL AGAIN.
The 200 crore nett target is looking a step too far SOORYAVANSHI but it can still become the second highest Akshay Kumar grosser and aim to be among the top ten films ever in Mumbai circuit. The film is a BLOCKBUSTER in Mumbai circuit and it is far ahead of the other circuits where business is in the HIT to AVERAGE range.

SOORYAVANSHI continued to collect well on its fourth Friday despite competition from two new releases. The film collected in the 80-85 lakh nett range to take its total over 185 crore nett. The drop is around 25% from the day before and if it could have stayed at a similar range to Thursday, then 200 crore nett would have still be on.
SOORYAVANSHI now will probably be looking at a 195 crore nett finish which will make it the third highest grossing Akshay Kumar film after HOUSEFULL 4 and GOOD NEWWZ. There should be huge growth over the weekend and if somehow it can get a 4 crore nett weekend then it should knock off GOOD NEWWZ from second spot.
The film remains strong in Mumbai and Gujarat and this is despite the competition of ANTIM - THE FINAL TRUTH which has done its best business in Maharashtra.

SOORYAVANSHI saw huge growth on its fourth Saturday as collections almost doubled from the previous day. A circuit like Mumbai saw over 100% growth.
The collections on the fourth Saturday will be in the 1.40-1.50 crore nett range which takes the film to over 186 crore nett and it should cross the 190 crore nett mark by the end of the week. The 200 crore nett mark is probably looking out of reach for the film now but it should finish with business in the 195 crore nett range.

The collections are affected by the new releases and if it was not for them, then the film would have hit the 200 crore nett mark as the weekend would have done 2-3 crore nett more.
The film will now cross the business of MISSION MANGAL (192 cr) and it remains to be seen if it can reach the numbers of GOOD NEWWZ (196 cr). The flow of releases will continue in December and so it will probably settle at a final total in the vicinity of 195 crore nett.

SOORYAVANSHI collected a decent 55-60 lakhs on its fourth Monday to take its fourth week total in four days to 4.75 crore nett. The film is looking at a fourth week total of 6.25 crore nett which will give SOORYAVANSHI a four week total of 191 crore nett. Thereafter there will not be much coming and maybe it can add another 5 crore nett for a final total of 196 crore nett.
The film has given an outstanding performance in Gujarat/Saurashtra which has led Mumbai circuit to collect 83 crore nett till date. It is looking to finish at 86 or 87 crore nett in Mumbai circuit which will put it just outside the top ten of all time in Mumbai. If it can get to 87.50 crore nett, it will be among the top ten and this is phenomenal achievement as its come with 50% occupancy allowed in Maharashtra which led to the first weekend of the film being hit.

SOORYAVANSHI has seen an excellent third week collection of 18.50 crore nett surpassing all Akshay Kumar releases in week three including HOUSEFULL 4 (16.27 crore) and MISSION MANGAL (14.53 crore). There was competition on Thursday but it still did not drop much. The collections were down only in the 15% range on Thursday.
SOORYAVANSHI has now collected 184.50 crore nett in three weeks and will see a substantial reduction in shows from today as ANTIM - THE FINAL TRUTH releases. The film is down to 2-3 shows at most multiplexes but still this is enough for it to have some decent collections even in the fourth week. The poor response to one of the new releases, SATYAMEVA JAYATE 2, can help the film.
It remains to be seen where the film lands on the third Friday but if it can get 1 crore nett or more, then it will remain on course for a 200 crore nett final total.

SOORYAVANSHI became the highest third week collection for an Akshay Kumar starrer as it hit 17.25 crore nett in week three with one day to go as against the 16.27 crore nett of HOUSEFULL 4. The overall total of the film is over 183 crore nett.
The film will hit another huge benchmark today as well as it becomes the first outright film to hit 40 crore nett in Gujarat/Saurashtra in the history of Hindi cinema. These record breaking collections have come straight after the pandemic.
The business over the next two days will be crucial in terms where does the lifetime business can and does it finish in the lower 190's or go towards that 200 crore nett mark.

SOORYAVANSHI added another 1.75 crore nett apprx on its third Tuesday taking its nineteen day total to 181.75 crore nett. The third week is heading for total of 18.50 crore nett assuming there will be a drop on Thursday as there will be a new release.
The film is holding best in Maharashtra, Gujarat, CP Berar and all the East India markets are also showing a good trend and showing lesser falls than the all India average. CP Berar will come out as highest grossing circuit after Mumbai and Delhi/UP and this is rare and here its with Maharashtra at only 50% occupancy. The high ratio of business in CP Berar comes from Maharashtra.
The underperforming markets are Delhi/UP and East Punjab with ratios of 17% and 5% but this is the case for most Rohit Shetty films as they generally have a Maharashtra or Goa base.

SOORYAVANSHI is maintaining its strong run at the box office with collections in the 1.75 crore nett range on its third Monday. The film is on course to be the highest third week collections ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer. The drop is 45% on the third Monday but the Friday collections were boosted by 15-20% by the partial holiday on Friday.
HOUSEFULL 4 collected 16.27 crore nett in week three and it seems like SOORYAVANSHI is heading for a 18 crore nett plus third week number. The film already has 14 crore nett up with just four days gone of the third week. The film has also beaten another HOUSEFULL 4 record as it has emerged as the the highest grossing Akshay Kumar starrer in Mumbai circuit. It will be the first Akshay Kumar film to cross 80 crore nett in Mumbai.
The total in eighteen days is now almost 180 crore nett and remains to be seen if it hits 200 crore nett. It will get very close but whether it gets there depends on a lot of factors when the new films release this week.

SOORYAVANSHI had another superb Sunday as it collected 5-5.25 crore nett to take its third weekend total to 12 crore nett which is an excellent number for the third weekend. The Hindi belts again saw strong collections on Sunday with Gujarat/Saurashtra again being around the 1 crore nett mark.
The Gujarat holds for the film are historic as normally films don't hold like this as Gujarat has that huge holiday period over Diwali week. Even after those holidays, its done around 20% of the all India business in Gujarat on Sunday when the normal ratio for the circuit is around 10%.
This takes the total collections of the film to 178 crore nett and the film can still aim for 200 crore nett though it will be about how many screens it retains this week when two new films release. The second week dropped around 62% and it will be pretty much the same range in week three. If this gets repeated in week four, then the 200 crore nett mark will be pretty much there for the film.

SOORYAVANSHI collected 4 crore nett apprx on its third Saturday to take its 16 day total to 173 crore nett plus. The growth on Saturday was less than normal as it was coming of a holiday in parts of India.
There were places that showed huge Saturday growth like Mysore and West Bengal as these places went up over 75% but Delhi NCR which is among the highest growth areas on Saturday was pretty flat. SOORYAVANSHI Sunday growth should be strong as the Hindi belt circuits show good gains again.
The film remains super strong in Gujarat/Saurashtra as it has become the highest grosser in the circuit outside BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION with business of 38 crore nett. The film will easily have a total of 40 crore nett plus by the end of the week in this circuit. Maharashtra is also on a very strong run with Mumbai circuit looking at phenomenal lifetime collections even though it lost quite a lot of first weekend business due to the 50% capacity rule.

SOORYAVANSHI recorded fantastic collections on its third Friday as it collected 3.25 crore nett which is similar to what the film collected on Thursday. The film was helped by a holiday for Guru Nanak Jayanti in parts of the country but even where it was not a holiday the film held up very well.
The collections of SOORYAVANSHI were lower than other Diwali releases like GOLMAAL AGAIN and HOUSEFULL 4 but the trend was stronger and this has come into play on the third Friday as the film records higher collections than both the films and by a decent margin. The 200 crore nett mark is within range for the film but a lot will depend on week four when two new films which cater to a similar audience to SOORYAVANSHI release.
The total collections of the film are nearly 170 crore nett now and is heading for an excellent third weekend. The growth will be less at places on Saturday as it was a holiday but overall should still be an upward trend over the weekend.

SOORYAVANSHI was rock steady on the last day of the second week as it recorded collections which were similar to Wednesday. The film collected 3.25 crore on Wednesday to give it a second week total of 45.75 crore nett.
This overall total of the film is now 166 crore nett in two weeks and Mumbai circuit is a huge 73 crore nett plus. It will cross the 78 crore nett total of the last Diwali HIT HOUSEFULL 4 in Mumbai. The numbers in Gujarat/Saurashtra are in touching distance of all time record (excluding BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION) of GOLMAAL AGAIN and SOORYAVANSHI will cross GOLMAAL AGAIN in Gujarat today or tomorrow.
The film seems to be heading for a final total of 190-200 crore nett but a limited drop on the third Friday will mean that it will more towards the 200 crore mark rather than 190 crore.

SOORYAVANSHI has emerged the top INDIAN film in just two weeks with collections of 166 crore nett. There is no competition from Hindi films due to a disjointed market for 18 months and hardly any films making to the theatres. The competition is mainly from South as they had their own markets in a good position in the first quarter of 2021.
The biggest film from the South at that time was MASTER which was touted as a pan India film like so many others are nowadays when the only real pan India films come from Hollywood. The fact remains that a film that is not called pan India like SOORYAVANSHI has collected more in Nizam/Andhra in Hindi than MASTER did across all Hindi circuits in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Being pan India for Indian films is about some sort of branding as if people watch it becomes pan India not by just releasing but more on that on another day.
On the other side is that this film MASTER did very well in Tamil Nadu and is among the top five films in that state and finished with a very good final total of 162 crore nett apprx in India. The worldwide business was around 230 cr GROSS and that has also been crossed by SOORYAVANSHI which stands at around 251 crore in just two weeks.
There have been only four films to cross the 100 crore mark post the pandemic in India and SOORYAVANSHI is comfortably at the top. The others are MASTER (162 cr), VAKEEL SAAB (115 crore) and ANNAATTHE (109 crore, 2 weeks). Here SOORYAVANSHI and VAKEEL SAAB are single language releases while the other two released in more than one language.

SOORYAVANSHI collected well again on its second Wednesday with 3.50 crore nett apprx. The film is maintaining normal drops over the weekdays in the second week with 10-15% drops. This has taken the film to a total of 162.50 crore nett.
This trend will probably continue on Thursday as well and then it will be whether Friday can hold at similar levels to Thursday for a shot at 200 crore nett. SOORYAVANSHI was short of films like HOUSEFULL 4 and GOLMAAL AGAIN in week one while week two will be similar and the gains have to come week 3 onward if the film is to get similar numbers to those films.
The second week business of the film will be in the 45.50 crore nett range which will be a 62.5% drop on week one. In Mumbai circuit the film is still on course to cross 80 crore nett and it could even be more depending on holds over the next two weeks.

SOORYAVANSHI is staying in the race for 200 crore nett as it collects 4 crore nett apprx on its second Tuesday to takes its total to 159 crore nett. Tuesday has seen excellent collections in Mumbai circuit, CP Berar, Nizam/Andhra and Bihar and these look like sustaining very well in week three even with a new release.
The lifetime range of the film looks to be around 185-200 crore nett at the moment but if the third Friday holds firm as compared to Thursday then this range will go up. The new release BUNTY AUR BABLI 2 will probably see its best collections in NCR but in Maharashtra, Gujarat and other mass circuits, SOORYAVANSHI might continue to collect despite being in week three.
SOORYAVANSHI has found immense appreciation in Maharashtra and Gujarat belt and this is allowing for the huge holiday period in Gujarat. A final total of 40 crore nett is on in Gujarat/Saurashtra which is huge. In fact, the Saurashtra belt, in week one, recorded similar collections to BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION which was a 60 crore nett grosser in Gujarat.
The film will now be strongest in Maharashtra till the end of its run as it heads for huge total in Mumbai circuit which may even be among the top ten of all time. The final results are going to be extraordinary in Mumbai circuit whether it is in top ten or just outside as its coming with 50% occupancy in Maharashtra which held the film back especially over the first three days.

SOORYAVANSHI collected a 4.25 crore nett on its second Monday dropping almost 40% from the second Friday. This takes the second week total of the film to 35 crore nett in four days and an overall total of 155 crore nett. The business in the second week should be around 46 crore nett.
The second week numbers will be comparable with pre pandemic Diwali releases like GOLMAAL AGAIN and HOUSEFULL 4. GOLMAAL AGAIN collected 47 crore nett in week two while HOUSEFULL 4 collected 48 crore nett. The drop in business in week two will be lower for SOORYAVANSHI compared to GOLMAAL AGAIN and HOUSEFULL 4 and that is basically what keeps the film with a chance to hit 200 crore nett.
