You can count on Ranveer Singh to play by his own rules. When most stars are OTT-bound, the actor is set to foray into television with the visual-based quiz show, The Big Picture. He says that in his growing-up years, he would watch shows hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, mesmerised by their ability to entertain the audiences.

In 2000, Bachchan proved that television was no longer the poor cousin of Bollywood when he came on board Kaun Banega Crorepati. In the years that followed, several superstars had a taste of the telly world as they hosted reality shows.

“Iconic mainstream Hindi film heroes like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have captivated the nation through their television shows. I’ve idolised them since childhood and closely followed their journeys,” says the actor.

While Singh has emerged as one of the most successful actors of his generation, he believes that the show will introduce him to a larger audience. “They garnered immense love from people for their charismatic turns on the television screen. I have a great opportunity here to connect with the youth of India as well as the family audience. I hope I can continue the legacy of Hindi cinema heroes on national television.”
