Leading film actor Swwapnil Joshi and industrialist Narendra Firodia have joined hands to launch an Over The Top (OTT) platform, which will cater to the regional content at a greater level. Soon to be launched, the venture is expected to prove an ‘OTT of India’ for the films and series in regional languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and others.

Swwapnil Joshi, the household name with his variety of roles in the films and serials, was planning to launch the OTT by his company Tamora Digiworld and has been working on it for the last one and a half years. Similarly, Firodia was also planning a OTT platform for the content from Marathi, Guajarati and other languages. The duo, stalwarts in their respective fields, have now decided to join hands to launch the platform and thereby change the definition of the regional content the way it is being presented today.

“I was thinking about starting an OTT platform for the last one and half years as I was looking to do something different to grow as an artist. In the process, Tamora Digiworld was formed after few of us like-minded people met. We wanted to give a good OTT platform to the people. In the meantime, I discussed the venture with Narendra Firodia whom I shared very good relations since the last few years. Our wavelength matches on many levels including business aspirations, principles among others. During the discussion he told me that even he was planning to launch Letsflix, the OTT platform for regional languages content. After deliberation, we decided to join hands and launch the OTT on a bigger scale by merging both the ventures,” said Swwapnil Joshi.

The actor said that since two big ventures are coming together the OTT launch will be much bigger that will cater at the world level. Not only the regional languages in India, but even foreign language content can be added in future on the platform, he said. “We have a very good team of leading people from this field intending to form a global entity. The formal announcement on the name of the venture, date of the launch will soon be done,” he said.

Narendra Firodia
said that instead of competing with each other, they decided to come together and launch it on a huge canvas. “The lockdown saw the launch of many OTT platforms catering to various genres of the content. India is a huge market for the OTT content and it has been proven in the last few years. Since the regional languages were not getting the due participation on these platforms, I decided to launch Letsflix. After announcing Letsflix we were in the process of launching it when I learnt that Swwapnil Joshi too was thinking on similar lines. We met and decided that instead of competing with each other, joining hands will help us in launching it at a greater level,” he said.

Narendra Firodia added, “We are aiming at giving quality content in Indian languages to our viewers. This will be India’s OTT and we are working on those lines. We will soon announce the modalities about the platform.”
