A pandemic that has caused havoc for people across the social strata has also taken a toll on such children and young adults whose lives have been turned upside down following the demise of their parents. When an 18-year-old science student (name withheld) from Karnataka reached out on social media for financial help after his father succumbed to the disease, Salman Khan stepped up to offer aid.
The actor’s attention was drawn to the post by Yuva Sena leader Rahul S Kanal, who has been collaborating with him on the Being Haangryy food trucks endeavour, which supplies food to frontline workers, including police personnel, BMC staff and health workers. Kanal says, “We have provided ration and educational equipment to him. We will be there for him and provide whatever is needed for his betterment. Salman’s family of fans are enabling us to help others. Salman told us to go out and be there for every human in need. He is aware of every fan club devoted to him. He is also aware of every request that comes his way, and the ones that we are providing aid to.”
Kanal says Khan has helped 5,000 frontline workers. “[Aid has also been provided] by sending medical equipment, oxygen cylinders, and food packets provided to the underprivileged. In Indore, 180 blood plasma donations have been made by members of Salman’s fan clubs.”
