GODZILLA VS. KONG grossed a very good 39 crore nett apprx in its extended first week with strong collections in Tamil Nadu and Nizam/Andhra though they fell over the weekdays. If we take out South India, then the collections are just 14 crore nett apprx and that is where the film has suffered badly.

It has probably never happened for a Hollywood release but Delhi/UP has collected more than Mumbai circuit. Mumbai is by far the biggest circuit for Hollywood films and that includes the South circuits but here it has the fourth best collections after Tamil Nadu, Nizam/Andhra and Delhi/UP. For the weekend, Mumbai was even behind Karnataka but it moved ahead over the weekdays.

GODZILLA VS. KONG will find it tough to hold strongly as the Hollywood films hold mainly on the strength of Mumbai and Delhi NCR while South tends to drop faster. Still a 50 crore nett plus number will be a good result considering the situation. Post the Coronavirus pandemic, only 3 films have surpassed this mark in India and all were South Indian films. A couple of other South Indian films went close to 50 crore nett.

GODZILLA VS. KONG held up well on its second Friday with collections in the same range as Thursday as it picked up collections around the 2 crore nett mark. It was a holiday for Good Friday which helped the cause of the film. This will curtail the growth over the weekend but that was always expected due to the holiday on Friday.

The Coronavrirus scenario is hitting box office collections with exhibitors from the South also now saying business is not quite what it was a few weeks back. Bengaluru is set to go back to 50% occupancy while the huge rises in Covid-19 infections will put fear in some of the audience in bigger cities even in South markets.

GODZILLA VS. KONG has done its business and easily should push to the 50 crore nett plus mark from here even if there are more restrictions which are practically a certainty.
