Groundwork begins for Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan?

Sources say set of chawl being erected at Film City as Kumar is slated to kick off Raksha Bandhan shoot by mid-April

The pandemic has done little to slow down Akshay Kumar, who has managed to wrap up Bell Bottom, Prithviraj and Atrangi Re in the past few months. While the actor is currently shooting for Farhad Samji’s Bachchan Pandey, sources suggest that pre-production work on his fifth project, Raksha Bandhan, is in full swing.
“A set of a Mumbai chawl is being created at Film City. The production design team has been instructed to build the set by mid-April. By then, Akshay will have wrapped up his portions of Bachchan Pandey and will turn his attention to the family drama,” reveals a source.
The film, which was announced by the superstar on Raksha Bandhan last August, marks his reunion with filmmaker Aanand L Rai after Atrangi Re, which also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. The source adds, “Unlike Akshay’s past few movies, Raksha Bandhan is an emotional drama and will showcase him in a different light.”
