GODZILLA VS. KONG did good business over its extended five day weekend as
it collected 28 crore nett despite India seeing a surge of the Coronavirus pandemic
with the second wave taking hold. The film recorded excellent
collections in Tamil Nadu and Nizam/Andhra as both circuits saw
figures which would be pretty close to normal times.
The film also managed fair business in Kerala though Karnataka/Mysore
was off the pace compared to other South markets. The Hindi circuits saw
poor business as the five day business remained lower than the four day
business of ROOHI but this because the hugely deteriorating conditions
with the pandemic across the Hindi circuits. ROOHI was just two weeks
back but there is a big difference as to how the pandemic is affecting
since the release of that film. GODZILLA VS. KONG has appreciation in the main
circuits of Hindi markets which the huge Saturday growth showed but its
unable to collect due to the ground level situation.
The collections of the film were flat on Sunday but Hollywood films do
not grow much on Sunday anyway and it is the day before Holi as well. So
Sunday is pretty good as well. Monday is a holiday for Holi but the
growth for Holi is generally huge in Hindi circuits but here the film is
hardly collecting in these places as many cinemas remain shut. Also
Hollywood does not release on 2K theatres which most of these shut
theatres will be.
The five day collections of GODZILLA VS. KONG are as
follows.
Wednesday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 28,00,00,000 apprx
