After an eventful 2020, Vaani Kapoor is counting her blessings for completing multiple projects in the year gone by, given that the world went into a complete lockdown for months. The actress teamed up with Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta for Bellbottom. Before 2020 ended, she completed Abhishek Kapoor’s Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui with Ayushmann Khurrana.
Talking about it, Vaani says, “Abhishek has a unique way of drawing performances from his actors. The characters he comes up with seem so real. I have seen his films, and I think he gets the best out of his actors at all times. He is very patient as a director, and he invests a lot in every character. There is so much to learn on his set.”
In her last release, she teamed up with Hrithik Roshan for an actioner, War. When asked why she had risked being a part of a film whose narrative was dominated by its male characters, Vaani says, “It wasn’t a risk at all. Yes, it was a high-octane action film, but I had an amazing co-actor like Hrithik. Working with someone like him is always a win-win. The fact is it’s not always about the length of the role. Someday, I want to shoulder an entire film on my own, but right now, even a smaller role that gives me enough to play with, gets me excited. It’s important for me that the role in question is not a frivolous one. It has to excite me as an actor. Also, it’s important to know the trajectory of the filmmaker that I am teaming up with and how they treat each one of their characters in the story.”
