“It’s been a decade since I last spent New Year’s with family in Chandigarh (his hometown), and this year-end will be priceless for me,” says Ayushmann Khurrana, who will finally head home after wrapping up the shoot for his next. Though the film was shot in Ayushmann’s hometown, the actor stayed at a hotel throughout the 70-day schedule for the sake of his family’s safety.

Before reuniting with his family, the actor will get a Coronavirus test done. “I’ll wrap up my shoot soon, and have enough time to get my COVID test done and get my reports before I go home,” he says, adding, “I’ll finally be able to spend time with my family and hug them. I haven’t been able to meet my family properly due to the shoot.” Amid the shoot, the actor made a brief visit home on Diwali, but got tested before meeting them and stayed as distant as possible.

Before resuming the shoot, Ayushmann spent time exploring Chandigarh and reconnecting with his life there as a student. He says, “Since the lockdown lifted, we have been in Chandigarh and have made amazing memories with each other.”

Ayushmann adds, “I have been able to catch up with my family, my friends from school and college, and my teachers.”

He is happy that his kids, Virajveer and Varushka, have been able to spend time in Chandigarh. “I’m happy my kids got to live in Chandigarh because that’s where our roots are. They had a blast there,” he says.

Elaborating on his New Year’s plans, he says, “We will do a simple get-together for New Year’s Eve. 2020 has taught us to concentrate on our priorities, on the things that bring us joy. I am fortunate that I will have all the important pieces of my life under the same roof to celebrate this New Year with.”
