Sonu Sood emerged as the ‘messiah of migrants’ for his heroic acts amid the pandemic. The actor helped hundreds of displaced migrant workers reach their homes safely in remote areas. Recently, while vouching for the power of authentic and reliable news during a chat with Radio Mirchi, Sonu said, “Newspapers are extremely essential. I always tell my kids to read the papers. Earlier when I was in school, reading the newspaper would be a part of our homework. We would be asked to present 20 news articles in class every day, toh uss bahane humein padhna padta tha. I think schools need to make such activities mandatory to encourage children to know what’s going on in the world, and unko pata bhi chaley ki newspapers ki kya ahmiyat hai zindagi mein.”

Talking about how newspapers have always been an integral part of his life, the Dabangg actor shared, “When I was in my hometown in Punjab, there was a set routine. Subah uthte hi, newspaper ke ek-do panne dekhe jatey the. Although I did not inculcate the habit of reading from cover-to-cover back then, I would surely get the paper for my parents every day. Aaj kal toh subah uthke jab tak aap chai ke sath newspaper ke pages ko shuffle nahin karte, toh mujhe lagta nahin ki aapki jo morning hai woh complete hoti hai. Newspaper zindagi ka bahut bada hissa ban chuka hai.”
