“My birthdays have always been low-key,” says Ronit Bose Roy, who has gone abroad with his family and doesn’t have plans to “celebrate” his birthday this year.
“I look forward to receiving messages from fans and loved ones and like every year, the whole day will go by replying to them. And like always, we will have a family dinner in the evening. This year has been tough for everyone, not just me, so it feels odd to have a celebration,” he shares.
With every businessman facing hardships this year due to the Coronavirus lockdown, Roy, who runs a security company, has been taking care of the 100 employees in his company. “Everyone has faced problems this year but I did what was needed and kept paying them their salaries. Some clients contributed and I am thankful to them. Things have eased up in the last month, though it is not all normal yet. But with cases rising everywhere, the chance of a second wave is out there, so we have to continue to be careful. This year, people have realised that one can be happy with just basic necessities as well,” says the actor.
Roy had two releases on the web this year both of which got a good response. He admits that he has got more appreciation for his work on digital platforms because the many people, who enjoyed watching him on TV, have been clubbed with the OTT audience. “My fans love my work in films and TV. But the love from the audiences has grown with digital shows. In terms of roles, I have done iconic roles in TV and films, but with the two shows on OTT, the appreciation has increased,” he signs off.
